Our company history started in 1913 when our founder, Takeo Sakata, began “Sakata Noen” in Yokohama.
Since the beginning Sakata has focused its efforts in breeding activities to create superior genetic varieties in both flower and vegetable crops. Over the years, Sakata has launched outstanding varieties in many crops such as Broccoli, Tomato, Cabbage, Watermelon...

1994:  Establishment of Sakata Seed South America in Brazil
1996:  Establishment of Sakata Seed Iberica in Spain
1996 : Establishment of Sakata Seed France

1996 : Establishment of Sakata UK
1998:  Establishment of Uchaud Research Station in France
1999:  Establishment of Sakata Polska in Poland
1999: Establishment of Sakata Seed Southern Africa in South Africa
2003: Transfer of Sakata Europe headquarter to France
2006: Establishment of Jordan Valley and Upland Research Stations in Jordan
2008: Establishment of Almeria and Murcia Research Stations in Spain

2012: Establishment of Sakata Tarim in Turkey

2013: Centennial anniversary

2016A new research facility was opened in the Uchaud Research Cen­ter of Sakata Vegetables Europe S.A.S. (France)

2017Sakata acquired McAVET (Jordan)

2018: Sakata opened a second production site in the Angers region (Ponts-de-Cé) in France
