Sakata and the city of Almeria in Spain win the Guinness World Record® title for the world's largest vegetable mosaic (16 October)

More than 23,000 kg of veggies were used to form a 600 m2 heart on World Food Day.

The date and the location were specially chosen because:

-          Almeria is currently the Spanish Gastronomy Capital

-          16 October was the date chosen by the FAO as World Food Day to raise awareness about the global food crisis and spread information on the importance of eating a healthy diet, based on fruit and vegetables.

Various vegetable producers donated 20 tons of vegetables to make the heart. At the end of the event, the vegetables were donated to soup kitchens, schools and charitable institutions all around Andalusia.
